Asphalt,
An Eastern Missouri hot mix asphalt contractor had been running a batch type hot mix plant for decades. The contractor was looking for ways to increase production and improve quality.
Our company was given the project to supply a 10′ x 40′ counter flow dryer, a Rotary Mixer where RAP was added, a baghouse, and a 3 hot mix silo package. The new equipment would allow the contractor to produce more hot mix asphalt, use recycled asphalt pavement (RAP), and reduce emissions.
The new equipment was installed and commissioned, and the contractor was immediately able to see results. Production increased (it doubled!), and the quality of the hot mix asphalt improved significantly. The contractor was also able to use RAP in most of the mixes produced, which saved money and helped the environment.
MORE DETAILS
Here are some additional details about the equipment installed at this site:
- The 10′ x 40′ counter-flow dryer is a type of dryer that uses a counter-flow design to dry the aggregate. In this design, heated air flows in the opposite direction of the material being dried. This allows the dryer to dry the aggregate more efficiently than other types of dryers.
- The three 150 ton hot mix silos store hot mix asphalt. This allows the plant to produce hot mix asphalt on demand, which increases production and efficiency.
