A business in Oklahoma provides fine gradation coal to drilling contractors for downhole improvement. However, they needed to dry the coal before crushing, to make it easier to grind. They chose a low temperature/high excess air burner called an “Air Heater”. The Tarmac Air Heater is an ingenious way to reduce the burner combustion gas temperature from 1,500° F to between 500° F and 700° F. This reduces the likelihood of coal combustion during drying.
The coal drying system is inside a building and discharges to metal skips or high-temperature bags.
